down on the farm: AgeS 3-5

What I'm learning

  • Physical Development:

I am learning how to build my fine and gross motor skills by helping on the farm. I am learning how to use my arms and legs in new ways.

  • Literacy and Language:

I am learning how to differentiate between objects and learning pre-literacy skills.

  • Social Learning:

I am learning how to share and take turns with others when I wait for the slide.

  • Reasoning and Problem Solving:

I am learning by trial and error how to persist through a task.

Play & Learn Together:

  • Physical Development:

Help your child try to milk the cow, then encourage them to climb up the barn to the slide.

  • Literacy and Language:

Name the different animals and farm jobs. Help your children read about modern milking methods and how to care for poultry.

  • Social Learning:

Encourage your children to help others and take turns on the tractor and milking Bessie the cow.

  • Reasoning and Problem Solving:

Ask your child how to use the gas pump, the tractor, and to see how chicks develop.  Encourage your child to work with others to plan a work schedule for a day on the farm!
