Music Explorers WORKSHOP (AGES 5 - 8)

Shenandoah Valley Children's Choir (SVCC) is offering free music classes for children ages 5-8 at Explore More Discovery Museum on Saturday, September 28, 10 AM & 11 AM. Sign up your young musician for music-learning fun with instructors Karen Reichard and Jessica Strawderman! Participants will enjoy playing games, moving, singing, and more — all in a learning environment based on the highly-acclaimed Kódaly approach to music education. Each session is 40 minutes.
This is a FREE event.
Parents are welcome to participate and must remain on the premises.
Karen Reichard is a semi-retired music educator with 41 years experience teaching preschool through 12th grades in Augusta, Shenandoah, and Harrisonburg City Schools. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s in music education and a Kodály Level 1 course, all at James Madison University. Her Orff Levels I-III and Master Class certifications were attained at the University of Memphis. Mrs. Reichard is a long-time fan and volunteer of SVCC and has attended almost every Christmas and spring concert since 1991.
Jessica Strawderman has taught K-12 music for 13 years and currently teaches general music at Bluestone Elementary in Harrisonburg City Public Schools. She completed her bachelor’s degree in music education at Bridgewater College and her master’s degree in music education along with Kodály certification at James Madison University. Mrs. Strawderman’s passion is instilling a love of music through play in all children.
