Volunteers are the backbone of the museum.

We're always looking for help in the following areas:

HANDS-ON

Interact with Children: Show the children how to properly and safely use the exhibits. Suggest areas or activities the children might enjoy trying. Inspire learning through play!

Supervise and Maintain Exhibits: We want to ensure that every visitor has a positive experience. Our volunteers keep our exhibit galleries in top form by supervising, restocking supplies, and making sure the museum is always clean and safe.

Prepare Materials / Supplies for Special Events: The museum offers a wide range of programs and special events. Volunteers assist in a variety of ways, such as assembling packets and mailings, preparing field trip materials, decorating for birthday parties, and more.

Youth volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Shifts are available on weekends, summer and other school holidays.

Skill To Share

Are you a Maker? If so, you might be interested in volunteering in our new makerspace for kids 8+. This creative workshop offers kids the opportunity to try woodworking, electronics, sewing, laser cutting, 3D printing, art, movie making and more!
Maker City volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

BEHIND THE SCENES: If you can't come in person to help out, perhaps you have skills to share, instead.  We are always in need of "behind the scenes" volunteers to construct or repair exhibits, mend costumes, and any number of equally essential jobs in the life of the museum.
